Let's Talk About Sex(ualisation)

One of the big "sex myths" addressed in the new book is the discussion about child sexualisation. Or rather, is it a myth? In spite of what you may get from the mainstream press, this is actually not as cut-and-dried an issue as many people think. Between the need to address public concern and the nuanced messages available from research, it's a difficult one to unpick.

Last week I was on Radio 4's Today Programme to talk about it - and the government's proposals for an "opt in" internet porn filter - with Sarah Montague and MP Claire Perry (who was very nice especially considering I give her ideas a pretty hard ride in the book).

Over on the BBC website, there was also a chat in the Magazine section. There are a wide range of viewpoints represented there and some definite food for thought.

And finally, I don't have kids and totally respect that parents do not have easy choices to make. Which is why I'd like to big up BISH Training's Planet Porn resource pack, which only costs a few quid and is full of great guidance and ideas for how to talk to teens about porn.
